RBMK Key Physics

Positive Void Coefficient: When coolant boils, steam voids INCREASE reactivity. Opposite of most reactors.

Graphite Tip Effect: SCRAM rods have graphite displacers. Initial insertion briefly RAISES power before boron enters.

Xenon-135: Builds up after power reduction, poisoning the reactor. Operators pull rods to compensate.

⚠ ORM BELOW MINIMUM SAFE LIMIT (15 rods). Reactor operating outside regulations. Positive void coefficient amplified.
